The artist Joan Gardiner
Unison Pottery and Tile, home of the ceramic work of artist Joan Gardiner, sits in the village of Unison in the Southwest corner of Loudoun County, Virginia. The small studio is a premier source of the region’s art tile and other clay art. Joan’s tiles decorate many schools, libraries and other public buildings, and hundreds of private homes. Joan is also known throughout the region as a bee keeper, creator of bee-related ceramics, and for Unison Honey.

Unison, population 30 (?) is on the register of National Historic Places. The short strip of paved road is located between its historic Methodist Church and the restored country store. The Church had served as a Civil War hospital. The store is now a community center. The Pottery and Tile Works sits on the North side of Unison Road between those landmarks.
